Porch-sitters: Rai & Mtawa's Friendship [26 Jun 2006|01:32pm] Rai is basically an old "grew up in New York in the 40's" type, turned gossip-monger in his retirement after a lifetime of "knowing so&so" and having little else to do with himself. He doesn't really understand Mtawa, who is a very stay-at-home sort, serious and sometimes over the top fretful, and not at all gregarious. But, they frequently spend much time in each other's company, because the other young hyenas that Rai does understand (like Kasiri,) are out galavanting and he loves having someone to gossip and talk to; meanwhile Mtawa doesn't venture far naturally and doesn't really have friends his own age, and so looks to Rai as a sort of friend/mentor.
